Currently Mitch is working towards a Bachelor’s Degree in Business at Troy University after previously earning an Associate’s Degree from Chattahoochee Valley Community College.  Coach Shelby serves as the assistant pitching coach and works alongside Head Coach Adam Thomas in developing the Pirate pitching staff.  Additionally, Shelby is critical in the maintenance of Howard Lake Field.

In 2011 Shelby was a member of the graduating class at Lassiter High School in Marietta, Georgia. During his high school career he was a two-year letter winner on the baseball field, and a part of a AAAAA state runner-up team in 2010.

After completing his high school years, Mitch signed a scholarship to pitch at Gordon College in Barnesville, Georgia. His time at Gordon was short lived after a shoulder surgery sidelined him for the season. After completion of the 2012 season Mitch transferred to Chattahoochee Valley Community College to pitch for the Pirates. While at CVCC, Mitch was a member of the Pirate’s bullpen from 2013-2014. The Pirates put together two outstanding seasons during his time including a Conference Championship and an NJCAA JUCO World Series appearance in 2014. After graduating from CVCC Mitch went to the University of South Alabama to continue his baseball career with the Jaguars in Mobile, Alabama.
