2015 Recruiting Class Continues to Grow with Signing of SS Jayson Cook

Coach Thomas continues to address infield needs to a soon to be vacated infield with five infielders, all starters, graduating in May.  The Pirates received the signature of Harrison High School’s shortstop, Jayson Cook on Monday to add another dynamic athlete to play multiple infield positions for CVCC in 2016.

CookCoach Thomas had this to say about Cook:  “I feel like I keep repeating myself about the infielders we have signed at this point, however, our need was to sign fast twitch, athletic infielders that are difference makers in their playing abilities.  Like Lynn, Smith and Meuse, Cookie is one of those individuals.  He can run, can absolutely defend, and has a rocket for an arm, not to mention, he is dynamic offensive player.  The fun part is going to be figuring out the best defensive alignment with our personnel.”

See some of Jayson’s stats and accomplishments:

  • As a junior at HHS, hit .338 with 3 doubles, 11 RBI, 18 runs, and 7 SB
  • First Team All Cobb County shortstop
  • First Team All Region shortstop
