Pirates Add Dynamic Shortstop, Jaylen Smith, to 2015 Class

Coach Adam Thomas received his second signed letter of intent in shortstop, Jaylen Smith, of Eagles Landing Christian Academy in McDonough, Georgia.  Smith is the second of 8 early commitments for the Pirates 2015 recruiting class.

Jaylen SmithJaylen brings extraordinary athleticism to the table for CVCC, with the ability to play nearly any position on the field.  An excellent runner, with great hands, and a quick bat, Smith will bring the fast twitch caliber athlete to the CVCC lineup, to which the Pirate fans are accustomed to seeing.

Coach Thomas had this to say, “Jaylen is the kind of young man and baseball player that we have thrived on at CVCC in my tenure.  He is such a high character young man and comes from a wonderful family.  His baseball talents are outstanding, as he brings a 5 tool capability to The Lake.  He is obviously a shortstop, but like many of our guys, has the ability to play multiple positions because of his athleticism.  I cannot wait to get Jaylen on campus and see him play in a Pirate uniform.”

Below are a handful of statistics and accomplishments of Jaylen Smith:
