After one heck of a two year run at The U, seven more Chattahoochee Valley sophomore baseball players have made their decisions on where they will finish their careers’ on the diamond.
Trevor Kieboom 3B – Trevor has made his commitment to the University of Georgia. After transferring from Clemson, Kieboom became the premiere third baseman in the ACCC in 2014, as he hit .325 with 62 hits, 11 doubles, 2 homers, and 50 RBI’s, while drawing 30 walks. Additionally, Kieboom was named to the ACCC All Central Division Team, as well as the ACCC’s All Tournament Team.
Payne Kosobucki RHP – Payne has signed his NLI with the University of Alabama-Huntsville. One of the Pirates’ top relievers in his career, Kosobucki posted a 1-0 record out of the bullpen in 2014 with a 2.65 ERA while appearing in 10 games for CVCC.
Dylan Lee RHP – Dylan has inked his commitment with Charleston Southern University. Lee had an incredible breakout sophomore season, as he became one of the top pitchers in the country. Dylan went 9-1 in 2014 while leading the ACCC with a 1.36 ERA, which was also the third best in the country. In 86 innings, Dylan struck out 62 batters and surrendered only 8 walks. Dylan was named ACCC All Central Division, as well as to the All Region and Southeastern District Team.
Jeff Ronpirin LF – Jeff has made his decision to continue his career at Emory University. The future surgeon, was simply one of the best pure hitters to come through The U. Ronpirin, the Pirate leadoff hitter, hit .326 with 9 doubles, a triple, 37 RBI’s, 55 runs scored, and 17 stolen bases. Ronpirin was voted to the ACCC’s All Central Division Team.
Cody Sheffield RHP – Cody has signed his NLI to pitch at Anderson University next season. The big right hander was off to a great start when a freak shoulder injury on his non-throwing shoulder sidelined him for nearly 6 weeks. Nonetheless, Sheff went 1-0 with a 2.57 ERA and averaged well over a strikeout an inning.
Mitch Shelby RHP – “Coach” Mitch has made his commitment to pitch at the University of South Alabama. The Mr. Do it All Shelby appeared in 9 games this year, posting a 2-0 record with a 2.92 ERA while punching out 12 batters in 12 innings.
Cam Sperry RF – Cam has signed his scholarship to mash baseballs over the wall at Georgia State University next year. Cam, like Dylan, had a breakout season, in which he led the ACCC in RBI’s with 56, not to mention his .371 batting average, 13 doubles, 3 triples, and 5 homers. Cam’s efforts landed him on the All Central Division Team, the All Region Team and All Southeastern District Team.
With these seven commitments, the 2014 class total is now up to 15 players who have furthered their careers at a 4 year institution.
