Chattahoochee Valley’s sophomore shortstop, John Holland, made his committment to Mississippi State University on Tuesday afternoon and will sign his NLI in the upcoming April signing period.
John’s committment makes the 7th Division 1 signee of the 2014 sophomore class. The former Florida State infielder, and younger brother of former Pirate, Ryan Holland, has made the long trek back to major Division 1 college baseball. After starting as a true freshman at FSU in the College World Series, a minor back surgery forced him to take a redshirt in 2013.
Wanting a fresh start, John transferred to CVCC and has been a juggernaut in the ACCC since his arrival. Thus far, Holland is in the top 10 in nearly every meaningful offensive category in the ACCC, as he is hitting .381, with 27 runs scored, 37 hits, 4 doubles, 4 triples, 3 homers, 25 RBI’s, and 11 stolen bases. Additionally, he is the top fielding shortstop in the league, committing only 3 errors on the year and posting a .974 fielding percentage.
Congratulations goes out to John and the entire Holland family.
