Pirates Ink Seven in Initial 2014 Signing Class

With a sophomore heavy team, particuarly on the mound, Coach Adam Thomas has been busy on the recruiting front, as he has signed seven high school seniors to kick off the 2014 recruiting class.  The class consists of 3 left handed pitchers, 1 catcher, a centerfielder, a firstbaseman, and dual role athlete, all out of the baseball rich state of Georgia.

JD Brown LHP - Bremen HS

JD Brown LHP – Bremen HS

JD Brown LHP, Bremen High School, Bremen, GA – JD is a 6’4 lefty with plus command and a put away breaking ball.  His velocity sits in the low 80’s but he is definitely a 90 mph arm waiting to happen.  JD went 3-1 as a junior, while striking out 50 batters in only 40 innings, and posting a 2.25 ERA.

Landon Faulkner INF/RHP – Mt. Paran Christian School

Landon Faulkner INF/RHP, Mt. Paran Christian School, Kennesaw, GA – Landon is the type of player you find on every CVCC team – a Mr. Do-it-all.  Faulkner will be able to play all 3 infield positions and brings an upper 80’s fastball to the mound, as well.  Landon was recently named an Honorable Mention All-American by Perfect Game, while Under Armour named Landon to its pre-season All American team, as well.

 

 

Brandon Frazier 1B - Oconee County HS

Brandon Frazier 1B – Oconee County HS

Brandon Fraziar 1B, Oconee County High School, Watkinsville, GA – Brandon is a big 6’3 left handed hitting first baseman that will bring some serious thunder to the Pirate lineup in 2015.  The younger brother of former Mississippi State star shortstop, Adam Fraziar, Brandon looks to be a middle of the order mainstay for CVCC.  As a junior, Brandon hit .333 with 16 extra basehits and was named his teams Gold Glove winner, playing nearly every position on the field.  His efforts landed him on the All Region team.

 

MJ Rookard CF - Chapel Hill HS

MJ Rookard CF – Chapel Hill HS

MJ Rookard CF, Chapel Hill High School, Douglasville, GA – MJ comes to CVCC as the perfect mold of lead off hitter and centerfielder.  The speedster is an on base machine, as he hit .411 with a .487 OB%, with 41 hits and 25 stolen bases.  He was named All Region and All County as a sophomore and to Perfect Game’s All Tournament Team.  As a junior, MJ was named the Douglas County Player of the Year.

 

 

Brandon Sattenfield LHP - Chapel Hill HS

Brandon Sattenfield LHP – Chapel Hill HS

Brandon Sattenfield LHP, Chapel Hill High School, Douglasville, GA – Brandon joins MJ out of CHHS.  One of the best pitchers to ever come out of Chapel Hill, Brandon finished 9-1 with 83 strikeouts against only 17 walks as a junior, with a miniscule 1.71 ERA.  His efforts landed him the Douglas County Pitcher of the Year.  Brandon turned down many big time Division 1 opportunities to sign with the Pirates.

 

 

JT Thomas C - Etowah HS

JT Thomas C – Etowah HS

JT Thomas C, Etowah High School, Woodstock, GA – JT comes right out of the mold of many of the big time catchers the Pirates have had over the years – he is an absolute defensive stalwart.  The rocket armed Thomas is a workhorse behind the plate with soft hands and excellent blocking skills.  Last year, JT hit .387 with 46 hits in 40 games with 13 doubles and a .460 OB%.  Additionally, he was named Etowah’s Defensive Player of the Year, as well as the 2011 East Cobb/Rawlings Defensive Player of the Year.

 

Christian Vann LHP - Parkview HS

Christian Vann LHP – Parkview HS

Christian Vann LHP, Parkview High School, Lilburn, GA – Christian is the next in a long line of Parkview products that have come to CVCC.  Another tall, lanky lefty, Christian is a future big time Division 1 player and potential draft pick.  As a junior at Georgia powerhouse, Parkview HS, Vann went 9-2 and let his team in innings pitched, while striking out 40 batters and walking only 18, while posting a 2.96 ERA for the Panthers.  In addition, he was named the Gwinnett County player of the month in April and was named to the All Region Team, as well.
