The 2014 Season is upon us and the schedule has now been released. There are many familiar foes on the slate, along with a few new challenges awaiting the Pirates.
The Pirates will open the season at home on the weekend of January 31st and February 1st, hosting Jefferson Davis on Friday the 31st and LaGrange College on Saturday, the 1st. The Pirates have not faced the Warhawks in a regular season game since the leagues split in 2011.
The following weekend the Pirates will make their annual trip to Panama City, Florida for the Gulf Coast Invitational, where they will face fierce competition in Wallace State-Hanceville, Alabama Southern, and the host team, Gulf Coast.
The Pirates will play annual foes Andrew College, East Georgia, West Georgia Tech, as well as ABAC in the pre-conference schedule. Due to scheduling conflicts, CVCC has dropped non-conference rival Georgia Perimeter from the schedule in 2014, but has picked up a new Georgia team in Georgia Highlands College for a home and home series.
To wrap up the February non-conferene docket, the Pirates will travel to Tallahassee, Florida for a 3 game set on February 28-March 2 with Tallahassee Community College for one final test before heading into conference play.
Once conference season hits, the Pirates will make their usual rounds with Central Alabama, Southern Union, Wallace State-Selma, and Marion Military for a 27 game conference schedule.
Sprinkled in between conference sets are a handful of weekday non-conference games as the Pirates return the trip to Jeff Davis, while playing a home and home with Faulkner University while hosting Thomas University for their final non-conference game of the year on April 7th.
