The accolades on a wonderful season continue to roll in for the Chattahoochee Valley Community College Pirates. The 2013 NJCAA All American Baseball Team was released on Wednesday, and sophomore first baseman/pitcher, Nick Jones found himself on it.
Jones, who nearly won the ACCC triple crown in 2013, was named to the NJCAA All American second team. After leading the Pirates in every meaningful offensive category and placing himself among the school’s all time single season leaders, Jonesy was in the top 10 in the conference in most categories, as well.
On the season, Nick hit .393, with 68 hits, 53 runs, 17 doubles, 2 triples, 7 homers, 51 RBI’s, and walked 38 times, while posting an amazing .514 on base percentage. He was equally impressive on the mound, as he was arguably the top relief pitcher in the ACCC, as well. Jones was 3-0 with 4 saves, while posting a 2.92 ERA and struck out 35 batters against only 6 walks in 24 innings of work.
Nick has signed a baseball scholarship to play at Georgia Gwinnett College next season and is expected to be a late round draft pick in this weekends MLB draft.
