2012 Baseball Team Eclipses 3.00 GPA Mark, Once Again

For 13 years, the Chattahoochee Valley has become the standard in the Alabama Community College Conference for academic excellence. During the Adam Thomas era at CVCC, academic success for Pirate baseball players has been a priority.  This is evident as thebaseball team’s overall grade point average has surpassed the 3.00 mark for the twelfth consecutive year, and the 2007 team earned the highest overall GPA (3.36) in the program’s history, while the Pirate baseball team has consistently earned among the highest team GPA’s in the entire country over the past decade, with the 2012 edition of the Pirates posting a 3.12 overall team GPA.  Additionally, the Pirate baseball team has earned the prestigious status of being named the NJCAA Academic Team of the Year in baseball following the 2010 season, making them a three time recipient of this esteemed honor (2007, 2008, and 2010).  Furthermore, seven of his student-athletes have earned Academic All-American status, with countless others being named to the Academic All-Region team.  Finally, the entire CVCC athletic department, which includes all four athletic programs (baseball, softball, men’s and women’s basketball) earned a department wide grade point average of 3.06.  The Pirate student-athletes are, without question, a homerun and slam dunk in the classroom.
